Read this article on NPR News about a baby tiger being drugged and stuffed in a bag to be smuggled in.   It never ceases to surprise me the crazy things that people will do….

A friend posted this on his FB page and of course I couldn’t resist.  Yes, it’s an actual cat fashion show.  The Gothamist had a good coverage of the event.  I showed it to John and he said, “when cats revolution come, these people are gonna be the first ones to be guillotined.”

Since I’ve been emptying out our DVR almost on daily basis, I had to start recording shows that I don’t usually watch.  America’s Got Talent was one of them, along with ton of shows from NGC, History Channel, Discovery, and shows like “The Big Cat Diary.”  (<- I’m sure this won’t the last time you hear me talk about this show)

It’s a fairly entertaining show and time to time, you realize some people really DO have talent.  Here are few acts from this week that I thought were pretty great.

Luigi Seno singing “Sunday Morning” – Maroon5

Debra Romer singing “Angel” – Sarah McLachlan

(I totally emotional listening to her sing.   I can’t explain why but I felt an emotional brokenness about her.  I really hope she does well. )

Carlos Aponte singing “Il Mare Calmo Della Sera” – Andrea Bocelli

after coming back from the flower market this weekend, I had green tissues paper all of the apt.  Teffie looked so nice against the bright green.

Tigger chillin’

This is Harriet.  I didn’t fully understand the meaning of a scaredy cat until I met Harriet.  She’s so scared of everything that John and I joke about how she will most likely die of a heart attack.   Everything scares her.  The wind, the rain, the doorbell, footsteps, printer printing, clicking of the mouse, cell phone ringing, and the list goes on and on.  But somehow she has managed to survive in the Kim household as long as she has.  We love her dearie and I hope she will be with us for long, long, long time.  She’s also not comfortable showing affection or receiving affection.  She gets super tense and cringes everytime I hold her.  John says it’s because she sees me like Elmyra from Tiny Toons.  I would like to think otherwise….

Teffie chillin’ in a white crate

Okay, I’m that crazy cat lady.  Happy Holidays from, Snickers, Teffie, Harriett, and Tigger!

This is my dear buddy Tigger.  My favorite.  But I only tell him that when the other cats are not around.  I don’t want to show favoritism.  He was tiny when we first got him.  And since people ususally don’t believe me, I have to show them pictures of Tigger when he was just a tiny kitten.  But now when people meet him for the first time, people are in shock  at how big he is then ask what we feed him.  I kid you not, he will be the biggest cat you’ll meet.  I always try to take flattering pictures of him.   Tigger is an awesome cat.  Dog-like cat.  Such an incredible companion and I do truly love him!

Yes, I’m the crazy cat lady with 4 cats at home.  But videos like this should make everyone a cat lover.  This is kind of neat since I’ve taught Snickers to give me “high-five” over the weekend.  This kitten is so cute and this trick is just hilarious!  I have NO clue why my friend forwarded me this video…. No clue….

teffie

teffie

This is my #2 of 4 cats.  His name is Teffie (Teflon).  Teflon was John’s nickname during college and thought it would be cool to name our first boy cat by that name.  He is a truly gentle and sweet cat, except to short people/females (long story).  Needless to say, he is John’s favorite.  It’s quite amazing to see him run to John whenever, wherever John calls him.

As John puts it, Teffie feels the pain of the world.  Always tries to save the underdogs, rescue the needy and defend the weak.  And he also likes to be held while he falls asleep.  Here he is, gently observing the world go by.

This is Snickers. She is about 8 years old. She is a very friendly cat to everyone except to the boy cats in the house. We have several theories about her being this way. We think it may be due to the fact that either she’s upset about her bitter divorce with Teffie or she may be possibly blaming Teffie for taking away her babies. Oh yeah, they had 5 kittens together that we gave away.

She used to be my favorite until Tigger came along. But Snickers is very dear to me!

Teffie, kicking it in the dryer.  We had to wash everything in there all over again because they got covered with white cat hair.  Soon after this pix was taken, Tigger decided to bully Teffie out of the dryer and hang out there himself.  Karma is a bitch cause Tigger didn’t know how to get out of the dryer without getting himself hurt.   So he meowed and meowed until John came along to rescue him from this life-threatening predicament he was in.   Yes, the dryer is whole 5 feet off the ground.  Somebody should really take the time to explain to Tigger that he’s a cat….

the OG BFF

I heard this on NPR this morning.  Apparently, there’s been a poll about  true friendships and the average number true frienships we have in our lives.  The poll was complied by a company called “One Poll“.  And the answer is, 3.  On the average, we have 3 true friends.  That works out perfectly for our cats since there’s 4 of them.  They could all have just the right amount of true friends in their lives.

simp3

Okay, so I LOVE the Simpsons.  I talk about the Simpsons like I personally know them myself and I watch at least 5 episodes of the Simpsons in a week.  This routine has been in place for some time now.  So every Monday, I will have my weekly pick of the favorite episode that spoke to me the most.   It won’t be an episode guide, but rather why a particular episode connected with me during that week.

The Seven-Beer Snitch (Season 16 Ep 14)

This episode was one of the coolest episodes ever.  There are several reasons why but there was a guest appearance by the famous architect Frank Gehry.  I’ve always been a huge fan of his and happen to work in one of his creations.  It’s really an honor and a privilege really.  And watching this show made me have a new found appreciation for his work and how profoundly he impacted our culture and our generation.  Dude, you know you made it if you make it on to a Simpsons’ episode.

Also the side story was about their pet Snowball.  I have 4 cats and they are like family to me.  I know how sad that sounds but it’s the truth.  I have one in particular named Tigger.  He’s the biggest cat we have.  People see him and either they freak out cause he’s soooo incredibly huge or they ask what we feed him just out of curiosity.  Anywho, Snowball was gaining so much weight that Lisa/Bart decided to investigate.  It turns out that Snowball had a second family who was feeding her all this extra food.  I’m not sure what Tigger’s excuse is but John has mentioned more than once that Tigger intimidates the other cats when they try to eat.  I would like to believe that Tigger just has another family who is feeding him on the side.
