This is what my Ovation looks like.  I’ve had it for really long time and it usually sits in a case covered with dust in the corner of my living room.  But time to time, I make the effort to take it out and attempt to make music with the maybe 10 chords that I do know.

While watching an episode of Parenthood, I came across this song called “make you feel my love” by Adele.  I’m sure it’s an old song and everybody knows about it but I discovered it for the first time today and have been listening to it for hours….

Cee Lo’s “Forget You” is one of my favorite songs of all times.  I actually prefer the explicit version of the song more. But last nite at the Grammy’s he came out on the stage in this ridiculous outfit and to top things off lovely Ms. Gwyneth Paltrow joined him in the song as well.  Such great performance….

I am so glad Glee is back!

What Can I say?  I really like the Black Eyed Peas.  There’s nothing like listening to bunch of their music to pump you up.  They are super great entertainers!

Susan wanted me to listen to this song because she felt like it applied to my life so much.  When I started to listen I couldn’t help but to get emotional because it was something that I was probably choosing not to see or believe.  Then while listening to this song like 100 times, an unexpected thing happened.

A friend sent me this video recently because he saw my posting about 500 days of summer on this blog some time ago.   And while watching this video funny thing occurred to me.  If I was a man, I would love to date someone like Zooey Deschanel.  She would be my soul mate.  Funny thing is, shouldn’t I have been thinking, “wow, that joseph gordon-levitt, sure is a cutie!”

Today Show’s viral video of “dynamite”.  This song always makes me want to throw my hands in the air.

I watched the movie Closer with great expectations.  Natalie Portman & Clive Owen(BMW films – Top 5 movie picks) in a same movie was enough for me to have these high hopes for this movie.  The movie was “eh” at best but I was able to walk away with music of Damien Rice, which I think just may be one of the greatest things in the world.  I love his music and adore his poetic and penetrating lyrics.   I have spent many hours walking and thinking listening to his songs in many different cities.  And I’m sure my head will once again be filled with his voice/music this autumn in NYC.

Late last nite, while going thru the DVR, came across this little girl on America’s got talent.  She’s only 10 years old and her name is Jackie Evancho.  After watching her sing, I wondered how the other contestants on the show felt about her.  I mean clearly she was sooo incredibly awesome and better than other contestants.

Yesterday during service at church, something unexpected happened.  God spoke to me again thru the song “How He Loves” .   He was able to use this one song to bring me, so far, 4 different message.  And this is the 3rd blog entry relating to this one song by John Mark McMillan.

So if you haven’t heard and if you are not already following, Kanye West joined Twitter last week.   Read this on Huffington Post the other day.  It’s pretty hilarious.

Another cool find on Brooke Fraser’s blog : Solidarités International: Water talks

Recently saw this on Brooke Fraser’s blog and thought it was just amazing.

so i know this song is overplayed … been overplayed for some time now. what song am i talking about? home by edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros. but a friend of mine just kind of mentioned it in an email chain and now i can’t stop listening to it … again.

such a good song. no, a great song. reminds me of the bf. megg farrell’s whiskey social covering home … (shitty iphone quality .. it’s all i had)

Not only because I wear glasses, but as someone who appreciates cool and creative things in general, this is an awesome video.  LOVE it!

At the memorial service for Dan Cho this past Friday, I found out just how talent he really was and how much impact he had on the people around him. | continue reading |

This is the third time that this song has managed to bring me a profound and impacting message into my life in the past 9 months. | continue reading |

One of the biggest misconception that people have about Christians is that, we as Christians don’t believe that tragic and heart breaking things will happen to us.  And that somehow that when these horrible circumstances hit our lives, we are able to have it not impact our lives, emotions, and hearts.  Well, I could tell you from my personal experiences that, that is just not true. | continue reading |

Since I’ve been emptying out our DVR almost on daily basis, I had to start recording shows that I don’t usually watch.  America’s Got Talent was one of them, along with ton of shows from NGC, History Channel, Discovery, and shows like “The Big Cat Diary.”  (<- I’m sure this won’t the last time you hear me talk about this show)

It’s a fairly entertaining show and time to time, you realize some people really DO have talent.  Here are few acts from this week that I thought were pretty great.

Luigi Seno singing “Sunday Morning” – Maroon5

Debra Romer singing “Angel” – Sarah McLachlan

(I totally emotional listening to her sing.   I can’t explain why but I felt an emotional brokenness about her.  I really hope she does well. )

Carlos Aponte singing “Il Mare Calmo Della Sera” – Andrea Bocelli

Alrite, it’s been a little more than forever and a half since my last posting.  Funny thing.  I thought I would be more diligent about updating the blog when I had more time on my hand but it’s been more challenging to do so.  But this is a good way for me to make a come back to the blogosphere.

PHOENIX!!!!!!! Okay, Claudia introduced me to them some time ago.  I think there was a point in my life when I thought she would pack up her bags and follow them around the world and possibly even marry someone from the group.   But she’s older and wiser now and living in LA, doing the LA thing.

Anywho, I’ve been listening to them non-stop for past couple of days.   Incredibly awesome music and I have to admit I don’t always know what they are saying, but it’s the type of music that I could listen to for hours at a time and even have one song on repeat for hours at a time.

Here are some songs that I found on YT.  You may recognize some of the songs from the recent Cadillac commercials.

Last nite’s Glee episode was one of my favorite so far.  John was getting annoyed at the fact that I was singing along with all the Madonna songs.  It was a perfect combination of my favorite TV show with Madonna.  I don’t really need to elaborate right? 🙂  But just in case you actually need some convincing, here’s a video of Sue Sylvester as Madonna  in the iconic Vogue music video.  And here’s a TVguide cover of the cast paying homage to Madonna.

I don’t know if I’ll ever get sick of this song.  Just saw this on Today Show and Good Day New York.  Funny thing is, Greg and Rosanna commented “awww, look the kid is crying because he doesn’t want to hear this song anymore….. I don’t know why this video is viral.”  I couldn’t believe they completely missed the joke!

GLEEEEEEEEE!  Really looking forward to having Glee back in my life in the near future.  But this Rolling Stones cover, I LOVE!

I’m a firm believer that everyone has a story.  Correction, everyone has a “FASCINATING” story to tell, you just have to ask the right questions and get them to tell you the story.

While sitting across from someone today at work, he told me that he used to be a drummer for a band called the “Landlord.”  A real band.  Official website, touring around the country, myspace page, cds with more than 1 track,  groupies, and etc.  Okay, not sure about groupies, but wouldn’t be surprise to know that they had groupies.  It was the most interesting thing I heard from someone at work in a really really long time.  Someone once told me that they were at one point in their life an Olympic athlete, which I believed in, then of course turned out to be big fat lie.  Clearly, this is not one of those situations!

I am so incredibly encouraged and comforted by the fact that so many people have passion.  Whether you are living that passion or not is not relevant to me, since at the moment, I am too consumed by my passion and direction.  However,  isn’t it fascinating that we are seem to have this drive and inner-self that is always wrestling with the reality of life?  What if money was not a factor and responsibilities of life were a moot point.  Where would you be and what will you be doing with your life?   I am fortunate enough to ask this question and possibly actually live with the answer to that question.  The trepidation of uncertainties and insecurity for the moment is taking a back seat.  Even if it’s for a fleeting moment, I am in a good place right now.

this song’s definitely growing on me. i went from kinda liking it to i like it a lot. the video’s pretty dope. visually, it’s really stimulating. reminds me of that video from m.i.a, but whatev. it’s still good.

this song’s been blowing on the radio. it’s pretty damn good song. it’s one of those songs that gets me real amped.  definitely cinematic and lots of gaga-ish style in there. it’s just one long and entertaining video. and tyrese makes a cameo. delicious

Okay, I’ve been dvring the Ellen show couple of weeks back.  I’ve forgotten how entertaining the show is and how hilarious she is.  So it’s been almost theraputic coming home and watching the Ellen D show and Martha Stewart show.  But this weekend, while I was catching up on this week’s shows, this Nick Pitera guy totally blew my mind away with his singing.  I had to re-watch the clip THREE times just to make sure he was really singing, then Youtubed him to see other awesome videos of him.  Nick Pitera is… wait for it…. AWESOME!

so a coworker forwarded me this link. one, i love jason mraz and have since high school. and i love this song as well. so this guy daiyel sings a lot of different parts and plays them together. acapella. sooo good.

Here are few reasons why the group Nota won and why they deserved to win on Sing-Off!

Okay I have 2 groups that I am really rooting for on the new show on NBC called “The Sing-Off“.  First is a group called Nota.  Nota is clearly the best group on this show without a doubt.  And the other group is called Maxx Factor.  I really want to see them do well on this show because they are clearly the underdog of the show.  I mean look at the way they are dressed on the show while the other groups are totally DECKED-OUT!~  It’s like the producers put them in these oufits just so that they could be made fun of or something.  What gives man?????

Anywho,  here’s a taste of what you may be missing if you’re not watching this show.  Here’s an awesome performance by Nota.  That’s right “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz!

Okay, I’m that crazy cat lady.  Happy Holidays from, Snickers, Teffie, Harriett, and Tigger!

Wanted to post some videos from the season finale of Glee.  But wasn’t able to find decent video of the songs that I wanted.  Instead, here’s a cute Gap kids commercial that I saw during Glee tonite.

Clearly the kid doesn’t know the words to any of the songs but I don’t think it matters.  It’s still super cute.

it’s been A LOOOONG time. super busy with life in general. i was listening to this song this morning. first, it should be no surprise that i love mariah carey. i’m a korean girl born in the latter half the of the 80s. so my childhood was spent listening to mariah carey. one of my favorite mariah carey songs is fantasy featuring ol’ dirty bastard (wuuuu-tang). one of my favorite parts of the songs is definitely the intro by odb. something about this song gets me really pumped.

I was in the mood to listen to some Kanye West then came across these videos.

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all

He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.

We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
So Heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…

He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.

Last week I got a loud message from God.  It happens.  Rarely.  But it happens.  And the message was “God is a jealous God.”  Then on my commute on Friday, I heard this song and had a breakdown.   Such powerful message and such a powerful song….

all i have to do is dream. everly brothers

AHHH it’s been so long.

<—-slacker (i’m pointing at myself)

but i’ve been listening to a lot of al green and otis redding lately. and then this morning ………………………………..

a little supremes. a good song to ease into the work day.

That’s right, Beyonce’s “single ladies” was on Glee in 2 different version tonight.  Seriously, I don’t know if I’ll ever get enough of this song.  But I agree with my buddy Katherine, single girls should NOT be using this as their anthem when going out for a girl’s nite out.

Although Kanye’s stole the thunder from the rest of the show, I think this was one of the most memorable performance of the night.  It was sooo incredibly entertaining and incredibly well choreographed.  Beyonce… “single ladies”! Sorry for the bad quality video.  You could see the HD video on the MTV site.

Last nite’s episode of Glee was pretty Gleesome!   John was yelling at me for wanting to start the episode while he was cleaning up after dinner.  Apparently he feels like he needs to be super focused to watch this show.  I understand, cause I kind of feel like that as well.

So my dear friend Grace L was nice enough to share some memorable lines from last nite’s episode of Glee and I HAD to share!

  • ” Josh and I have become frequent penpals since he accidentally friended me on MySpace” – Sandy
  • ” i’m going to have to ask you to smell your armpits.  that’s the smell of failure. ” – Sue
  • ” i play guitar and.. actually a really good singer. … there are lots of moms at your gigs, right?”  – Puck
  • “dude, my bowels have better moves than you” – Puck
  • ” what’s wrong with me?  what’s wrong with me is that you’re freakishly tall!!   i feel like a WOODLAND creature!” – Dakota Stanley
  • ” He’s here!  Josh Grobin is here!  Front row, big brown eyes, cute as a buttermilk biscuit!   I barfed.”  – Sandy
  • ” Throngs of screaming teenagers don’t do it for Josh Grobin.  Josh Grobin loves a blousy alcoholic.” – Josh Grobin

Saw this flick called “500 Days of Summer” couple of weeks ago with bunch of folks.  I had to drag John go to see it with us and the whole time he was asking why we weren’t watching the #1 movie from the previous week, “District 9”.

After the movie, the men were having a indepth discussion about their worst, best and the scariest movies, while Jen S, Suah and I were standing the corner having a serious discussion about actually writing our very own movie/screenplay/book.  A SERIOUS discussion.  It will be at the very least, fantabulous and funny!

Anywho, here’s one of my favorite part from “500 Days of Summer”.  I love singing/dancing sequences in the movies.  And Suah mentioned how she couldn’t get this song out of her head for days.  Lanigan said this movie copied bunch of things from “Annie Hall,”  another movie that I should really watch.

My new obsession, GLEE!  Here are some of the songs from this week’s show.  Kanye West’s “Gold Digger”, Rhiana’s “Take a Bow“, the song from My best friend’s wedding, “Say a little prayer for you.”  Seriously, you’re not watching this show, you’re really missing out on pure entertainment. (the video quality isn’t all that great)

Saw this commercial for the new Rock band-Beatles edition.  Never played Rockband, ever.  But made me want to actually buy a gaming console, just so that I could buy this game and play it.

High School Musical (the first one) meets Bring it On (the first one).  Seriously, do I need to go any further?  This pilot episode had my playlist: On My Own, Leaving on a Jet Plane, Rehab, and even a little bit of Vivaldi!  The first episode is tonight and I literally cannot wait.  I am making John watch the pilot online so he could fully appreciate the goodness of this show.  This is a definite must on my DVR and I probably will keep the episodes so I could watch them on a rainy day!

Okay so I haven’t been following America’s Best Dance Crew, aka ABDC as much as I’ve been in previous seasons.  But this past week was pretty awesome.  Each week they have a challenge and this week was the BOLLYWOOD week.  Okay, how much do I LOVE that stuff?  Baz Luhrmann was inspired by Bollywood to create such beautiful flicks like Moulin Rouge… nuff said!

I saw Israel Houghton and New Breed perform for the 3rd time this year last week.  I could honestly say that until this January, I’ve never heard of him or his group before.  But I was fortunate enough to see them because they opened for Chris Tomlin’s concerts in Newark and in LA (yes I went to both….).  And each time, I was blown away with their passion and their unbelievable charisma to lead and captivate a crowd.  Last week was no different.

They sang this song that I’ve never heard of before.  For one reason or another, it really stirred something inside me.

Okay, I was OBBBBSSSESSSSED with this show called JEM growing up.  Girl rock group, enemies called Misfits, cartoon music videos, big hair, and Holograms!  Seriously it’s pretty outrageous…..

Learned this song couple of weeks ago at the Metro retreat.   Probably one of the most powerful retreats I’ve been in really really really long time.  Then I couldn’t get this song out of my head.  I’ve been listening to it non-stop and the part that keeps repeating in my head is, “All of my life, in every season, You are still God, I have a reason to sing, I have a reason to worship.”

We are called to sing and worshp Him thru everything.  It doesn’t matter where we are in life, we are to worship Him.  But that is much easier said than done.  I am still wrestling with God and trying to make sense of the things that are happening in my life.  I don’t have all the answers.  Far from it.  Sometimes, it’s more confusing, conflicting, complicated because of my faith.

Then I saw this video with Jill McClogrhy’s testimony and I felt so small.  This woman who clearly went thru so much more than I have, is able to sing and worship.  That’s reverance.  That’s strength.  That’s hope.  That’s faith.  Where is God in my life?  Where have I placed Him in my life?  Clearly not where He truly belongs.   Maybe that is why my brokenness and shattered dreams seem so much bigger than Him.

locals Avi Buffalo

my friend ed sent this video link. it’s pretty much one of the best music video’s i’ve seen in a long time. it’s the sour’s “hibi no neiro”. check it out.

homage to the king of pop

This was at Simon’s bday party.  You know you can’t have a cool party without MJ!

FREESTYLE LOVE SUPREME DUDES taking over streets of NYC.  You gotta love it.  These are the type of things make me fall in love with NYC all over again and again.

I’ve never listened to Jonas Brothers before.  I don’t even know what they sing.  But after seeing Joe Jonas dressed up in tights, singing “single ladies”, I may actually check them out.  But I wish he could’ve at least learned some of the words to the song.

the jakes, perhaps you know?

I am pretty sure the Transporter movies were based on these BMW Films.  When I was first introduced to these films by a good buddy, I couldn’t stop obsessing over them.  These films made me also become a huge Clive Owen fan.

“The Follow” is one of my favorite due to the beautiful music, scenery and cinematography.  There about 8 short films, featuring stars like Forest Whitaker, Mickey Rourke, Madonna, Don Cheadle, James Brown, Marilyn Manson, and many others.   You should totally check them out on Youtube

my little obsession

paranoid – kanye west. apparently this video’s being taken down everywhere. oh well. rihanna’s allll up in this video. more incentive to watch.

Kanye West Paranoid Official Music Video from bonna dona on Vimeo.

i’ve been listening to this song nonstop. every girl by lil wayne, drake, … and some other people. note, this song is really explicit so. i wouldn’t recommend listening to it if you know you’d be offended by a bunch of guys talking about wanting to have sex with every girl.

i think this song is REALLY entertaining. there are some really “good” lyrics. for one, let’s take lil wayne’s lyrics. he goes “i think you’re bionic. i don’t think you’re beautiful. i think you’re beyond it.” i think lil wayne is one ugly mug. but is it bad that if he used that line on me, i actually might’ve let him get behind it and watch me back it up and dump it back as he says? ladies, no? nobody’s with me on this one?

i think one of the most clever lines i’ve heard in a long time is drake’s. he goes “are any of y’all into girls like i am? let’s be honest”. come on. clever. let’s be honest. lesbionest? it’s clever. don’t hate.

last one. i don’t know who this guy is. but he goes “i’m about to get my bill clinton on. and hilary can ride them too” OOOOH. ride them. rodham? fire. FIIIREE. haha ok, it’s not really fire but who doesn’t love a bill clinton reference???

i don’t know. give it a few go arounds. it’s just a fun song. dirty song but it’s entertaining. makes me laugh and giggle a bit.

it’s been a while since i’ve listened to beastie boys but yesterday i was listening to their check your head album which is a great fun album to just listen to. so i was on youtube and what do i find ……….

beastie boys and roots. awesome.

mannn. it makes me really want to shell out the big bucks for the all points west festival in the summer time. seriously, check out the sick lineup

so i don’t listen to korean music. AT ALL. i know H.O.T. maybe two of their songs. i remember COOL. DJ DOC. but other than that, i’m lost. but i’ve heard of the wonder girls. it’s quality pop music i think. i don’t listen to it but i wouldn’t object to it if it was on the radio or something.

so i guess “nobody” is a very popular wonder girls song. i’m not sure. someone can confirm or refute that claim. anyway, after perusing the internet, i came across this music video. very powerful message. seriously.

I haven’t watched a full episode of American Idol since the first season.  Just lost a total interest.  Then I heard this morning that 100 million people voted for this winner.  REALLY?  HUNDRED MILLION????  That’s 1/3 of the US.  That’s just insane!

Here’s Kris Allen singing “heartless” by Kanye West, one of my favorite song this past year thanks to Gina.  I actually kind of like it.  I think he does a pretty decent job.  Good for him.

Los Abandoned, another cool LA (Van Nuys) band

cinespia1…movies at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary during the summer

the lonely island. akiva schaffer, jorma taccone, and andy samberg. if you don’t recognize their names, you’d probably recognize their work on SNL: dick in a box, iran so far, etc. and other SNL digital shorts. well they’ve come out with an album called incredibad.

this is one of my more favorite videos they’ve come out with: like a boss. special cameo by seth rogen.

someone forwarded me this video. great voice. great song. great music video. check out oren lavie – her morning elegance.

…French Navy by Camera Obscura and be obsessed.

i love feist. i especially like her videos. my cousin sue reminded me of this one. so it’s kind of a mini shout out to her. it’s one evening by feist.

something about the awkward dancing is so awesome. it’s almost painful to watch at first. but you kind of warm up to and love it. at least i do. maybe because i’ve done this awkward dancing in front of my mirror before.

mayer hawthorne is amazing. i’m a gal who looooves motown and just the old school r&b jams. i’ve got a biggg soft spot for that genre. mayer hawthorne’s got this old school thing going on and it’s unbelievable. he just made a new video for “just ain’t gonna work out”. check it out.

and yes, he’s white. i know, you can’t believe it.

i haven’t listened to ben folds in SO long. he just released a new album. it’s pretty much like a greatest hits album. he went around to different universities and recorded his songs with university acappella groups.

check out the article here

listen to it for free on imeem here.

i’ve been listening to this song nonstop for weeks now. soo good. anyone love it as much as i love it? i’m talking about knock you down by keri hilson ft. kanye west and ne-yo.

hahaha the best lyric has to be ne-yo’s:

“i used to be commander in chief of my pimp shit flying highhhh”

it’s pretty much alex’s favorite line in the song because it just cracks us up. anyone else think it’s funny?

ABDC #1

That’s right folks, John and I bought tickets to go see MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew” on tour!  And this is the last season’s champs called the “jabbawockeez” aka “jbwkz”.  And yes, they were as good as they were on TV and it really made me appreciate how good they really were.  And yes, John and I were probably the oldest people there other than the security….

holliesteel_528721a

SERIOUSLY, another incredibly talent British person on “britain’s got talent.”  This little girl comes on the stage, bounces around, then she starts singing like she should be headliner on Broadway.  Her name is Hollie Steel.  I am beginning to feel like maybe these British producers are staging these acts with professional folks and trying to pass them along as just regular common folks.    I mean literally 2 weeks ago, I blogged about Susan Boyle!

Food for thought:  what’s gonna happend when “america’s got talent” starts in the summer?  do you think we will have just as talent folks here????? It really makes me wonder….

Took this pix last October at an Antilia event with Simon that I helped plan/coordinate.  Didn’t know who Wyclef was and met him for the first time.  Really nice guy, fantastic performer and his manager was pretty fantastic as well.  The advice that I got from his manager that I still use everyday… “don’t talk to crazy people…. “

anyone else love the gorillaz like i do? they haven’t done much recently but i guess their documentary’s been keeping them busy. that’s right. documentary. it’s called BANANAZ. and it was released on the web on 4/20.

you should check it out. should be good, entertaining, and informative if you’re into the gorillaz.

i love tv on the radio.

staring at the sun picks up at around 1:50 ish mark.

speaking of the killers … i wish i was in cali this weekend (although east coast weather was bomb on saturday). more specifically, i wish i was at coachella. stinking it up with everybody. daaaaaangggg.

the broken west

i should’ve maybe posted this yesterday. but whatev, post tax day music video.

a great bee gee’s song. if you know the lyrics, it’s really sad. a guy who loooves a girl to death even though she’s constantly cheating on him. i guess it’s sweet. but we can all agree .. very sad. and the song itself is mad dance-y in line with the 70s vibe. and come on. barry gibb. need i say more?

now this is a cover done by feist which is one of my favorite bands/singers. she’s got a really soulful voice and whatnot. it’s soothing. i’ll post more songs from her in the future.

Remember this guy named Paul Potts couple of years back?  Well there’s another “unassuming” British peep that could sing like no other.   Her name is Susan Boyle.  Not only can this woman sing, she sang a song from Les Mis, my FAVORITE musical in the world (seen it 11 times).  I should also mention that when Paul Potts auditioned, he sang Nessum Dorma, which also happens to be one of my favorite.  Coincidence????? I Think NOT!

Heard about “youtube symphany orchestra” on NPR today.  Thought it was super cool and a really fantastic concept.  Mr. Friedman was right.  The world is getting flatter and flatter all around us.

Really cool website that a friend recommended!  Check it out and be sure to move your mouse around for the full affect!     http://soytuaire.labuat.com/

read an article on cnn (you’ll learn most of my info comes from there). apparently PETA asked the pet shop boys to change their name. change their name to the rescue shelter boys. ……

i know it’s for a good cause but .. the rescue shelter boys? really? they’ve been together for over 20 years. and now you’re going to ask them to change their name? i don’t know about that one …

read the article here. and watch a music video of one of their more popular songs..

so apparently the south park episode poking fun at kanye had a pretty big impact on him. he blogged about it on his website. click for kanye’s blog entry.

and just for shits and giggles .. the music video they feature at the end of episode.

so man man is eggin’ awesome. they’re kind of unlike any band i’ve ever heard. my friend, matt, put me onto them maybe a year ago. and i’ve liked them ever since.

this is their new video, rabbit habits. my friend john forwarded me this video. pretty awesome. i recommend checking out the credits at the end.

so clearly from below, you know karoake was in full force last night. i’m going to keep it short but i don’t know what it is about drinking and singing, but they go so well together. like ebony … and ivory … you know.

i wish i understood psychology and neurology (is that right?). that way i can give you some crazy scientific answer and have some brain analysis chart things. you know, where a certain part of the brain lights up and stuff. bah, you’ve all seen it.

Our company had a karaoke nite last night and one of the employees wanted to sing a Korean song.  It was a song by a group that I haven’t heard in ages and brought back flood of memories from more than a decade ago.  Okay, here’s a small Korean culture lesson for y’all.  You have not have heard of Seo Taiji and the Boys but for Koreans, they are like the Beatles, or like Elvis.  They were the ground breaking group that started a huge rock/hip-hop movement in Korea.  The parents hated them and the kids couldn’t get enough of them.   The were actually short lived as a group but while they were together as a group, they made a huge impact in Korean music industry.

Here’s my favorite song by Seo Taji and the Boys.  There’s also a famous dance craze that they started with this song with waving of the arms….

so my friend told me a while ago about this site takeawayshows.com. it’s pretty much a single cut video of an artist performing live. it’s kind of really awesome to see an artist in his or her raw form. you know, minus the synthesizer, redos, and whatever else you do to a record to make yourself sound way better. don’t get me wrong, i love that shit but sometimes it’s really dope to just see them go at it without the “help”. and the video/performance itself is one cut (i think for the most part) that anything can happen.

so i’ve listened about half of all the artists they had on there. but one i particularly like is vandaveer. for one, his voice is nice. it’s kind of unique; i don’t think i’ve heard a voice like his before. i can’t really describe it other than if you held your nose and started talking. you know; sort of helium filled? i also love the first video when one of the guys is just playing with a broom stick or something. and bannnnjooo. come on now. and what can you say about the crowd participation? they just stumble upon a group of people who get into it. AWESOME. and the music itself is great. it’s really cutesy, fun, happy, other synonyms of those words. not to mention, easy ass singalong song.

Vandaveer – Woolgathering / Roman Candle – A Take Away Show from La Blogotheque on Vimeo.

so for all you non-laser printer owners (like me), you guys know the sound when your printer fails. i wouldn’t say it’s the most annoying sound in the world. but it’s definitely not pleasant. so i guess this guy took this awful sound, and made it somewhat interesting musically. it’s not something i could listen to all the time but it’s creative as hell. the video too.

the title alone should give you a HUGE hint as to what this post is about. the only reasons anyone should be confused is if 1. they don’t have a tv 2. you have severe memory problems (which then you’re like me) or 3. you don’t know how to read (that came out really harsh. but then again, you wouldn’t really know if you can’t read… which also makes me think why you’re here .. visuals?)

i. LOVE. this commercial. i can’t remember a jingle that i’ve sung more than this (and enjoyed. hence $5 footlong is out). come on. it’s kind of nostalgic. billy bass, anyone? if you don’t know, it’s ok. it was probably the most useless thing ever. if you’ve received it as a gift, i’m sorry.

so i’ve been singing this song non-stop. i’ve sung it so much one day that i got a fellow employee who never heard of the song, singing the song by the end of the day. except she only learned the first two lines because that’s the only line i actually remembered. i pretty made up my own rendition of the last two lines. something with hanging on the wall and being in a sandwich and not laughing.

well without further ado, the video (accompanied by lyrics so you don’t sound retarted like me.) and no need to thank me for all future ridicule and harassment coming your way.

Give me back that Filet O’ Fish
Give me that fish (ahhhhh)
Give me back that Filet O’ Fish
Give me that fish
What if it were YOU hanging up on this wall
If it were YOU in that sandwich you wouldn’t be laughing at aaaaaaaallllllllll
(whoooo)

so if you know me, you know i’m probably one of the few people who would hold off marriage or any commitments as long as they can. monogamy? ahh. ugh. blah. meh. not really my favorite word in the english dictionary. gyuh-run (marriage or ..wedding) in korean. not my favorite word of the 50 korean words i know. it’s actually causing my leg to shake right now. but i’ve been listening to this one song today by ingrid michaelson. it’s called you and i. and this song actually kind of makes me want to get married tomorrow. (actually a large number of her songs want to make me get married like “the way i am”). i think the lyrics are just simple and kind of poetic and romantic because of its simplicity. and UKELELE. UKELELE!! come on!

two videos, same song. one’s with jason mraz. because i love him. ..he’s the one i’d marry tomorrow.

I’m sure alot of you saw this fantastic little movie called, “slumdog millionaire”.  As much as I loved the movie, the thing I loved more was the song/dance that closed the movie.  So when I saw this music video over the weekend while comforting Tigger after his bath, it totally made my day.  It almost made me want to drop everything and learn the dance for my next LA visit….
this is really old. but a friend of mine sent this link to me a while ago: rock god
freddie mercury, i can see. i don’t know if he’s my #1 but he definitely rocked out hard. definitely top 10 worthy.
elvis presley is definitely a rock god. a different rock god compared to others but a rock god during his times.
then there’s jon bon jovi. JON BON JOVI?!! what the eff? how is this guy above jimi hendrix? i’d even put otis redding above him. otis redding rocked out during shows. no offense to all those worldwide jon bon jovi fans but seriously. come on. i think after the superbowl halftime show, bruce springsteen definitely should be up there. did anyone see his knee slide?
if bon jovi’s up there, i’m not sure how this rock god’s definitely not up there.

All mp3s sitting in my iphone have been purchased. YES, I buy music. I buy music because I feel that it’s a way for me to support the artists, although I learned from working at Warner Music, that the numbers don’t work out that way for them. The last couple of albums that I bought belonged to one of my favorite Christian artist named Chris Tomlin.

I could honestly say, from my inner most being, that his music has an impact on my spiritual life almost every day. Why else would I fly out to Nashville for the first time, on my 32nd bday weekend, and convince not one but TWO of my dear friends to fly out from LA and SF to join me in Nashville, just to go see him at a tour that I’ve already seen him on 8 months prior? Why else would I buy 5 copies of his most recent album Hello Love and Fedex them to friends who maybe going through tough times? Honestly this kind of insanity/rationale stems from some kind of insurmountable gratitude! At least that’s what I tell myself when my friends look at me like I’m nuts.

Weekend in Nashville (airfare/hotel/car/food/etc) – $900
Chris Tomlin concert tickets spent so far – $150
Chris Tomlin CD/mp3 – ~$250
The “good” feeling I get from supporting Chris Tomlin – Priceless!

Most recent music purchase: Priscilla Ahn (20 songs for $11)
