This is what my Ovation looks like.  I’ve had it for really long time and it usually sits in a case covered with dust in the corner of my living room.  But time to time, I make the effort to take it out and attempt to make music with the maybe 10 chords that I do know.

While watching an episode of Parenthood, I came across this song called “make you feel my love” by Adele.  I’m sure it’s an old song and everybody knows about it but I discovered it for the first time today and have been listening to it for hours….

Cee Lo’s “Forget You” is one of my favorite songs of all times.  I actually prefer the explicit version of the song more. But last nite at the Grammy’s he came out on the stage in this ridiculous outfit and to top things off lovely Ms. Gwyneth Paltrow joined him in the song as well.  Such great performance….

I am so glad Glee is back!

What Can I say?  I really like the Black Eyed Peas.  There’s nothing like listening to bunch of their music to pump you up.  They are super great entertainers!

Susan wanted me to listen to this song because she felt like it applied to my life so much.  When I started to listen I couldn’t help but to get emotional because it was something that I was probably choosing not to see or believe.  Then while listening to this song like 100 times, an unexpected thing happened.

A friend sent me this video recently because he saw my posting about 500 days of summer on this blog some time ago.   And while watching this video funny thing occurred to me.  If I was a man, I would love to date someone like Zooey Deschanel.  She would be my soul mate.  Funny thing is, shouldn’t I have been thinking, “wow, that joseph gordon-levitt, sure is a cutie!”

Today Show’s viral video of “dynamite”.  This song always makes me want to throw my hands in the air.

I watched the movie Closer with great expectations.  Natalie Portman & Clive Owen(BMW films – Top 5 movie picks) in a same movie was enough for me to have these high hopes for this movie.  The movie was “eh” at best but I was able to walk away with music of Damien Rice, which I think just may be one of the greatest things in the world.  I love his music and adore his poetic and penetrating lyrics.   I have spent many hours walking and thinking listening to his songs in many different cities.  And I’m sure my head will once again be filled with his voice/music this autumn in NYC.

Right now, my small 1 bedroom apartment is overflowing with boxes, bags, paper, art supplies, and crates.  It’s getting so out of control that I am getting annoyed.  But with 5 events on my plate in next 45 days, I have no choice but to deal with the crazy/chaotic mess that I am creating in my living space.

Late last nite, while going thru the DVR, came across this little girl on America’s got talent.  She’s only 10 years old and her name is Jackie Evancho.  After watching her sing, I wondered how the other contestants on the show felt about her.  I mean clearly she was sooo incredibly awesome and better than other contestants.

Yesterday during service at church, something unexpected happened.  God spoke to me again thru the song “How He Loves” .   He was able to use this one song to bring me, so far, 4 different message.  And this is the 3rd blog entry relating to this one song by John Mark McMillan.

so i know this song is overplayed … been overplayed for some time now. what song am i talking about? home by edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros. but a friend of mine just kind of mentioned it in an email chain and now i can’t stop listening to it … again.

such a good song. no, a great song. reminds me of the bf. megg farrell’s whiskey social covering home … (shitty iphone quality .. it’s all i had)

Not only because I wear glasses, but as someone who appreciates cool and creative things in general, this is an awesome video.  LOVE it!

At the memorial service for Dan Cho this past Friday, I found out just how talent he really was and how much impact he had on the people around him. | continue reading |

One of the biggest misconception that people have about Christians is that, we as Christians don’t believe that tragic and heart breaking things will happen to us.  And that somehow that when these horrible circumstances hit our lives, we are able to have it not impact our lives, emotions, and hearts.  Well, I could tell you from my personal experiences that, that is just not true. | continue reading |

Alrite, it’s been a little more than forever and a half since my last posting.  Funny thing.  I thought I would be more diligent about updating the blog when I had more time on my hand but it’s been more challenging to do so.  But this is a good way for me to make a come back to the blogosphere.

PHOENIX!!!!!!! Okay, Claudia introduced me to them some time ago.  I think there was a point in my life when I thought she would pack up her bags and follow them around the world and possibly even marry someone from the group.   But she’s older and wiser now and living in LA, doing the LA thing.

Anywho, I’ve been listening to them non-stop for past couple of days.   Incredibly awesome music and I have to admit I don’t always know what they are saying, but it’s the type of music that I could listen to for hours at a time and even have one song on repeat for hours at a time.

Here are some songs that I found on YT.  You may recognize some of the songs from the recent Cadillac commercials.

so a coworker forwarded me this link. one, i love jason mraz and have since high school. and i love this song as well. so this guy daiyel sings a lot of different parts and plays them together. acapella. sooo good.

all i have to do is dream. everly brothers

AHHH it’s been so long.

<—-slacker (i’m pointing at myself)

but i’ve been listening to a lot of al green and otis redding lately. and then this morning ………………………………..

a little supremes. a good song to ease into the work day.

I saw Israel Houghton and New Breed perform for the 3rd time this year last week.  I could honestly say that until this January, I’ve never heard of him or his group before.  But I was fortunate enough to see them because they opened for Chris Tomlin’s concerts in Newark and in LA (yes I went to both….).  And each time, I was blown away with their passion and their unbelievable charisma to lead and captivate a crowd.  Last week was no different.

They sang this song that I’ve never heard of before.  For one reason or another, it really stirred something inside me.

Okay, I was OBBBBSSSESSSSED with this show called JEM growing up.  Girl rock group, enemies called Misfits, cartoon music videos, big hair, and Holograms!  Seriously it’s pretty outrageous…..

One of my favorite movies in the world.  I go around quoting lines from this movie.  This trailer made me think twice…..

diggy12_

Okay, so I am a HUGE fan of Run’s House.  Couple of weeks ago I found out his address and was very tempted to go stalk his house until they let me in and make me part of their family.  One of my dearest buddies, Gian, suggested that it was a fantastic idea.  So I knew nothing good could come out of it.

Anywho, so this Diggy character, who is probably 13 years old has a blog that I can’t stop reading.  The more I read and the more I see the stuff that he’s posting on his blog, I am really beginning to question whether he’s

  1. actually 13 because the sense of style this kid has is freaking out of this world
  2. writing all this stuff because he seems to have such wide range of interest (fashion, music, sports,  and even architecture)
  3. where he finds the time and the energy to blog so much

Regardless, I love the fact that he has very similar style/taste as me and I totally apprecitate his point of view.

i’ve been listening to this song nonstop. every girl by lil wayne, drake, … and some other people. note, this song is really explicit so. i wouldn’t recommend listening to it if you know you’d be offended by a bunch of guys talking about wanting to have sex with every girl.

i think this song is REALLY entertaining. there are some really “good” lyrics. for one, let’s take lil wayne’s lyrics. he goes “i think you’re bionic. i don’t think you’re beautiful. i think you’re beyond it.” i think lil wayne is one ugly mug. but is it bad that if he used that line on me, i actually might’ve let him get behind it and watch me back it up and dump it back as he says? ladies, no? nobody’s with me on this one?

i think one of the most clever lines i’ve heard in a long time is drake’s. he goes “are any of y’all into girls like i am? let’s be honest”. come on. clever. let’s be honest. lesbionest? it’s clever. don’t hate.

last one. i don’t know who this guy is. but he goes “i’m about to get my bill clinton on. and hilary can ride them too” OOOOH. ride them. rodham? fire. FIIIREE. haha ok, it’s not really fire but who doesn’t love a bill clinton reference???

i don’t know. give it a few go arounds. it’s just a fun song. dirty song but it’s entertaining. makes me laugh and giggle a bit.

i haven’t listened to ben folds in SO long. he just released a new album. it’s pretty much like a greatest hits album. he went around to different universities and recorded his songs with university acappella groups.

check out the article here

listen to it for free on imeem here.

i’ve been listening to this song nonstop for weeks now. soo good. anyone love it as much as i love it? i’m talking about knock you down by keri hilson ft. kanye west and ne-yo.

hahaha the best lyric has to be ne-yo’s:

“i used to be commander in chief of my pimp shit flying highhhh”

it’s pretty much alex’s favorite line in the song because it just cracks us up. anyone else think it’s funny?

a great bee gee’s song. if you know the lyrics, it’s really sad. a guy who loooves a girl to death even though she’s constantly cheating on him. i guess it’s sweet. but we can all agree .. very sad. and the song itself is mad dance-y in line with the 70s vibe. and come on. barry gibb. need i say more?

now this is a cover done by feist which is one of my favorite bands/singers. she’s got a really soulful voice and whatnot. it’s soothing. i’ll post more songs from her in the future.

Really cool website that a friend recommended!  Check it out and be sure to move your mouse around for the full affect!     http://soytuaire.labuat.com/

so man man is eggin’ awesome. they’re kind of unlike any band i’ve ever heard. my friend, matt, put me onto them maybe a year ago. and i’ve liked them ever since.

this is their new video, rabbit habits. my friend john forwarded me this video. pretty awesome. i recommend checking out the credits at the end.

Our company had a karaoke nite last night and one of the employees wanted to sing a Korean song.  It was a song by a group that I haven’t heard in ages and brought back flood of memories from more than a decade ago.  Okay, here’s a small Korean culture lesson for y’all.  You have not have heard of Seo Taiji and the Boys but for Koreans, they are like the Beatles, or like Elvis.  They were the ground breaking group that started a huge rock/hip-hop movement in Korea.  The parents hated them and the kids couldn’t get enough of them.   The were actually short lived as a group but while they were together as a group, they made a huge impact in Korean music industry.

Here’s my favorite song by Seo Taji and the Boys.  There’s also a famous dance craze that they started with this song with waving of the arms….

so my friend told me a while ago about this site takeawayshows.com. it’s pretty much a single cut video of an artist performing live. it’s kind of really awesome to see an artist in his or her raw form. you know, minus the synthesizer, redos, and whatever else you do to a record to make yourself sound way better. don’t get me wrong, i love that shit but sometimes it’s really dope to just see them go at it without the “help”. and the video/performance itself is one cut (i think for the most part) that anything can happen.

so i’ve listened about half of all the artists they had on there. but one i particularly like is vandaveer. for one, his voice is nice. it’s kind of unique; i don’t think i’ve heard a voice like his before. i can’t really describe it other than if you held your nose and started talking. you know; sort of helium filled? i also love the first video when one of the guys is just playing with a broom stick or something. and bannnnjooo. come on now. and what can you say about the crowd participation? they just stumble upon a group of people who get into it. AWESOME. and the music itself is great. it’s really cutesy, fun, happy, other synonyms of those words. not to mention, easy ass singalong song.

Vandaveer – Woolgathering / Roman Candle – A Take Away Show from La Blogotheque on Vimeo.

so if you know me, you know i’m probably one of the few people who would hold off marriage or any commitments as long as they can. monogamy? ahh. ugh. blah. meh. not really my favorite word in the english dictionary. gyuh-run (marriage or ..wedding) in korean. not my favorite word of the 50 korean words i know. it’s actually causing my leg to shake right now. but i’ve been listening to this one song today by ingrid michaelson. it’s called you and i. and this song actually kind of makes me want to get married tomorrow. (actually a large number of her songs want to make me get married like “the way i am”). i think the lyrics are just simple and kind of poetic and romantic because of its simplicity. and UKELELE. UKELELE!! come on!

two videos, same song. one’s with jason mraz. because i love him. ..he’s the one i’d marry tomorrow.

this is really old. but a friend of mine sent this link to me a while ago: rock god
freddie mercury, i can see. i don’t know if he’s my #1 but he definitely rocked out hard. definitely top 10 worthy.
elvis presley is definitely a rock god. a different rock god compared to others but a rock god during his times.
then there’s jon bon jovi. JON BON JOVI?!! what the eff? how is this guy above jimi hendrix? i’d even put otis redding above him. otis redding rocked out during shows. no offense to all those worldwide jon bon jovi fans but seriously. come on. i think after the superbowl halftime show, bruce springsteen definitely should be up there. did anyone see his knee slide?
if bon jovi’s up there, i’m not sure how this rock god’s definitely not up there.

All mp3s sitting in my iphone have been purchased. YES, I buy music. I buy music because I feel that it’s a way for me to support the artists, although I learned from working at Warner Music, that the numbers don’t work out that way for them. The last couple of albums that I bought belonged to one of my favorite Christian artist named Chris Tomlin.

I could honestly say, from my inner most being, that his music has an impact on my spiritual life almost every day. Why else would I fly out to Nashville for the first time, on my 32nd bday weekend, and convince not one but TWO of my dear friends to fly out from LA and SF to join me in Nashville, just to go see him at a tour that I’ve already seen him on 8 months prior? Why else would I buy 5 copies of his most recent album Hello Love and Fedex them to friends who maybe going through tough times? Honestly this kind of insanity/rationale stems from some kind of insurmountable gratitude! At least that’s what I tell myself when my friends look at me like I’m nuts.

Weekend in Nashville (airfare/hotel/car/food/etc) – $900
Chris Tomlin concert tickets spent so far – $150
Chris Tomlin CD/mp3 – ~$250
The “good” feeling I get from supporting Chris Tomlin – Priceless!

Most recent music purchase: Priscilla Ahn (20 songs for $11)
